Mariel L. Belanger focuses her practice on the representation of employers, including privately owned businesses, international corporations, non-profit organizations and institutions of higher education. She litigates employment-related cases in state and federal court and before administrative agencies and has represented management against single- and multi-employee claims alleging workplace discrimination, harassment, whistleblower retaliation, and breach of contract, among others. She also has experience litigating general commercial litigation matters for clients in a wide array of industries.

In addition, Mariel provides strategic counseling to employers on a wide range of personnel issues, including employee discipline and discharge, as well as separation and non-compete agreements. She also regularly conducts independent fact-finding investigations for employers faced with workplace complaints.

Mariel is also experienced in representing institutions of higher education, including investigating Title IX complaints and defending against Title IX claims.

Before entering private practice, Mariel served as a law clerk to the Honorable Katharine S. Hayden, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey, for the 2011-2012 term. She received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, magna cum laude, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Seton Hall Law Review, a member of the Interscholastic Moot Court Board, and a Distinguished Scholar.
